Summary
Ann Milligan has worked continuously on aspects of natural resources management (NRM) since 1974. After graduating with BSc(Ag) Hons at the end of 1973, she joined CSIRO in Western Australia in 1974 as a professional researcher and project manager. During 11 years with CSIRO, she worked first on crop and pasture nutrition; later, on groundwater hydrology in relation to salinity control.
Since moving to Canberra in 1985 Ann has focused on communicating science and NRM. During 1986–2002 she was a freelance communicator/editor/writer as ‘Science Text Processors Canberra’. Since 2011 she has freelanced as ‘ENRiT: Environment & Natural Resources in Text’.
During 2002–2005, Ann worked full-time at the CRC for Freshwater Ecology (CRCFE): as Communication Manager. Then, for eWater CRC, which succeeded CRCFE immediately, she was science editor/writer (and manager of public communication, 2007–08) till December 2011. During 2010 Ann was also seconded part-time to the Peter Cullen Water & Environment Trust as Administrative Officer.
As ENRiT, Ann works for a range of clients in natural resources. As well as editing many individual publications (including interview transcripts), she regularly produces the proceedings of the Crawford Fund annual conferences, and the newsletter ‘Bridging’ of the Peter Cullen Water & Environment Trust.
Ann also volunteers with the community groups Friends of Grasslands Inc. (FOG) and Ginninderra Catchment Group Inc. (GCG), in on-ground landcare work and as newsletter editor for both groups.
